Huma is sent to an American boarding school where she becomes ‘best friends forever’ with Yona, a Jewish classmate. Huma and Yona both enroll at NYU where they team up with two other female freshmen to form an all-girls band. Things go awry when Huma’s past from the Afghanistan village catches up with her. As Huma and Yona become romantically connected, Huma’s domineering Uncle plans to separate Huma from the forbidden American lifestyle.
